We catch up with the Women's Football Team Manager Dom, as he gives us his pre-season report.
"Skegness Town AFC Women have had a solid preseason run that has consisted of playing teams of equal or better quality throughout. Within these games, the squad has rotated to try different players in different positions and allow for new and old players to try positions different from what they are comfortable with."
During the 5 preseason games, the team has managed to score 15 goals and only concede 3 along the way which is great for the team's prospects moving forward.
"Our preseason started with a visit from East Midlands Women's Regional League (EMWRL) side SJR Worksop. The game showed great forward thinking and attacking play from both sides but Skeg was able to come out 3-1 winners, with goals coming from Ellie Cunliffe, Ella Mcgrorey, and Sheridan Simons."
"This was followed up by an action-packed game against Hall Road Rangers Ladies with Skeg coming out with a 3-2 win. This game saw us have to push into another gear within the second half to produce great passages of passing play. Goalscorers included Emily Johnson with 2 goals and new signing Holly Smith with a goal."
"After 2 successful games, Skeg continued form when taking on Hull City Ladies Reserves from the National League reserve league, where they managed to control the pace and direction of the game in their favour coming out 3-0 winners. The goals came from Courtney Mcrell with 2 and a debut goal for Hannah Smith."
"Skeg looked to keep their 100% record in order as they visited EMWRL side Sleaford Town Ladies at Eslaforde Park. On a very hot Sunday the game was played in quarters with Skeg controlling 3 of the 4. They showed from the off what exactly they could do going forward coming out 2-0 winners with goals from debutant Amber Sharp and Courtney Mcrell."
"Our final fixture so far of our preseason period saw us take on the Peterborough United Development side. We showed once again our attacking prowess moving forward but also gave a solid defensive performance conceding a minimal amount of chances against us. This fixture finished 4-0 in Our favour with goals coming from Amber Sharp, Ava Houlston, and Xena Redford with 2 from the spot."
Thanks to Dominic and his assistants for all the hard work they put into the team, and todays report. Wishing them all the very best of seasons, very hopeful for a continued good run of form where it counts.
