This Saturday we caught up with the 1st Team Manager, on a rare weekend without 1st team football. Got to ask him a couple of questions, starting by congratulating him on the recent run of good form in November and asking him his thoughts.
Rawlo said, "I am really pleased overall, we did unfortunately let ourselves down at home against Quorn, a good opponent. But then to bounce back with three wins is something we should all be happy with. We have managed to catch the top half of the table and when you think we gave some teams a 9 point head start, we should be encouraged by this."
"There is still loads to improve on. We have become hard to beat, difficult to score against, but our goals-for column still needs to improve. Our strikers have 20 goals between them, which is great, but we need to score more from other areas. This is the next step of our development, get more people into scoring positions, and this is something which only hard work on the training ground can improve, but it will."
There are a couple of big games coming up during the festive season:
17th Dec - Home vs Leicester Nirvana,
BOXING DAY DERBY
26th Dec - Away at Boston Town
Rawlo said, "Looking forward to the remaining games this year, we have 2 games against teams below us in the table. Everyone at the club understands that every game in this league is difficult, we will just be hoping to pick up some points and continue our good form."
"That will then make the boxing day tie away at Boston and the home game against Kimberly early in the New Year (7th Jan) very interesting. All I can ask is that we continue with our current work ethic and attitude and I am sure we will continue to pick up points."
Your recent victory over Pinchbeck United, pushes us on to the Semi-final of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy. What do you think of our chances picking up some silverware?
Rawlo said, "Finally it is great to have a semi final to look forward to in the Trophy, we got to the same stage last year and we will be hoping to go one better this time around, we had to utilise the whole squad on Wednesday at Pinchbeck and I was really pleased with the players that stepped in to play their first games for a while, this tells me the squad is in a healthy place and the reserve team is massively proving its worth for us."
"The draw, away at Deeping, will be incredibly tough as they are flying at the moment but it isn't until the end of February and there is a lot of football to be played between then and now. So we will plan for that nearer the time but rest assured we know how important final appearances and silverware is for everyone at the club."
"The weekend off gives us some time to rest and recover but we look forward to seeing everyone either away at Eastwood or at home to Leicester Nirvana,
Rawlo."
Thanks to Chris Rawlinson for his time.
