We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jack Downing in the position of manager of our new Youth Team.
Jack will be familiar to many, as a player at Skegness Town, and also somebody that has taken a keen interest in the development of young players. He has a background in sports education and is familiar with the youth football landscape in the area.
Our under 18’s Youth Team is a new venture for us. We see it as being key to transitioning from junior football to the men’s game. Our wish is to have a very competitive team, and to produce players that come to the attention of our first team manager. Hopefully players that will one day make the first team, following in the footsteps of the likes of Declan Johnson.
Speaking of his appointment Jack commented, “I’m pleased to be onboard with managing the Youth Team, and I’m really excited about the potential this has to bridge the gap between junior and men’s football. I met with the club, and it was clear that our ideas on what we want from this are aligned. Not only do we want a competitive squad of players with a winning mentality, but we also want to pave the way for some of those to succeed in our men’s teams. I can’t wait to get going now, and things have already started as we are organising a series of trial sessions for players to attend”.
If you are interested in trying out to become a part of the Skegness Town Youth Team squad, then don’t hesitate to contact us.
